meet Matt

Matt (left) is Habitat QC's construction coordinator. You may already know Matt as he has been with us since September 2022. Matt brings several years of experience in the remodeling industry to the Habitat team. In his off time, he is an avid outdoorsman.

Matt says "the thing I like most about Habitat are the people- from the employees to the customers".

Matt has been working hard on all of our home builds, repairs, ramps, and renovations. Now that we have additional help, you will most likely find Matt assisting with Habitat's home repairs and wheelchair ramps.

meet Eric

Eric (right) is Habitat QC's newest team member, starting in January 2023 as our construction assistant. Eric has experience in IT, he is an Eagle Scout, and he is a Veteran of the Marine Corps. He has also volunteered with Habitat in the Chicago suburbs. In his spare time, Eric likes to golf and spend time running the energy out of his 2 and 1/2 year old dog, Roland.

Eric says "I like knowing that my work is truly helping people. Also, with construction it is nice to be able to see the fruits of my labor at the end of each day".

Eric will primarily be helping on Habitat's new construction and renovation projects.

We're turning 30!

We are so excited to celebrate Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities' 30th anniversary in 2023!

Stay tuned for more information about ways you can help us celebrate later this year.

save the date

volunteer spotlight

Name:  Christopher Abbott

How long have you volunteered with HFHQC?  I started volunteering a day per week in August of 2021 with the home construction teams and then added volunteering with the Restore an additional day per week during the following Spring.

What is your favorite construction/volunteer activity?  Although I’ve learned and enjoyed everything I’ve done with Habitat, being outdoors on home construction is the most engaging for me.

WHY do you volunteer with HFHQC?  I have time available in my life to give back to the community.  Habitat is a way for me to do that with an organizational purpose that I really respect while still learning new skills, spending time with a fun group of volunteers, and staying active.

What do you do when you are not volunteering with HFHQC?  Career-wise, I’m retired so I travel with my wife and enjoy outdoor hobbies.  I also volunteer with Scouting and am the Summer Camp Director in the Hawkeye Area Council.

Thank you for sharing your time and talents with us, Chris!
