Name: Pam Crowe

How long have you volunteered with Habitat? I began volunteering with Habitat in January of 2016 when I joined the Family Support Committee as a partner family mentor.  I met my first family on January 11, 2016.

What is your favorite construction/volunteer activity? I thoroughly enjoy mentoring with the families.  Getting to know them and working along side of them in their houses and making new friends is the best.  I also volunteer by painting in the Habitat houses when the houses get to that stage in construction.  I always say I don't pick up a hammer but give me a paint brush and I'm happy.

WHY do you volunteer with HFHQC? I volunteer with Habitat because of the whole concept of Habitat.  Their mission statement: Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities is empowered by God to bring people together to build and renovate homes, to revitalize our community and to restore hope.  That says it all to me.  Also, I have met so many amazing people that have enriched my life so much and that I call my friends. And it's is FUN!

What do you do when you are not volunteering with Habitat? In my spare time, I still work as an interior painter.  I love to toil in the soil by gardening and grooming my yard.  I also volunteer at my church in various capacities. John (my husband) and I love to travel and visit the kids and grandkids, too!

Thank you Pam for sharing your time and talents with us!

New Construction

House #129- We have one more day of drywall work and then it’s on to finishing the cladding on the front of the house.

House #135- The plumber starts this week and then we’ll get a floor poured. Framing work will begin in a couple of weeks.

House #136- We begin excavating this week. Framing work will begin after Labor Day weekend.

Renovation Project Houses:

House #131-134- We are alternating work days at all four of our houses. Our focus over the next several months continues to be on rebuilding porches and buttoning up the exteriors. We will continue to work on interior projects as time and groups permit.
