Dear Habitat friends, Housing costs reached an all-time high in the past year and the shortage of housing continues to worsen. People everywhere, especially parents and caretakers, are struggling to create better lives for their children, their parents, and their loved ones. Partnering with IVHFH is a tried-and-true path toward stability and transformation; when people have a safe, affordable place to live, EVERYTHING can change, and change is so desperately needed. Together we can do even more to change lives and transform futures, creating a brighter tomorrow for those who need it most. Caretakers of their 83-year-old mother, Peg, Pam and her sister needed to transform their mom’s future to keep her living safely in her home. Peg lives alone on the family’s 150-year-old century farm. The old home lacks any accessibility features, and using a walker has become increasingly dangerous. Replacement of a tub/shower combo with a walk-in shower, installation of a wheelchair ramp, and a roof repair were some of the improvements our Helping Hands staff completed, which transformed Peg’s future into one of safety and security and replaced her family’s fear and despair with hope and peace. |
