Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity is thrilled to participate in Johnson County Great Give Day! Join us on May 1 and DONATE to bring affordable housing solutions to our community.

This is also a day to celebrate our community non-profits and to learn more about the work we are doing. Johnson County Great Give Day is an important reminder of the impact we have when our entire community works together.

At Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, our mission to bring people together to build homes and communities is crucial now more than ever. To expand our impact and reach more individuals and families in need, we recognize the demand to enhance our capacity. This includes recruiting more volunteers and raising additional funds to support our initiatives. To achieve this, we are excited to announce the formation of an outreach team dedicated to strengthening our organization.

The outreach team will play a key role in enhancing our communications and marketing efforts, engaging a broader volunteer base, establishing new partnerships, and strengthening existing relationships with our partners. To support these initiatives, we are looking to fill two vital positions within the outreach team including a Community Outreach Coordinator and a Volunteer Coordinator.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Habitat Friends Night earlier this month! This annual celebration of our supporters is an event our entire staff looks forward to every year because it gives us the opportunity to see many of our volunteers, donors, and homeowners. We hope this event conveys the immense gratitude we have for each and every one of you. At this event, we presented awards to several of our supporters for their outstanding service and dedication to the Habitat for Humanity mission. Congratulations and thank you to our 2024 awardees!

To celebrate Volunteer Week in April, Integrated DNA Technologies partnered with IVHFH to provide volunteers for build days in Iowa City. In addition to their volunteer service, IDT has made a generous contribution to support our Homeownership program. This type of support is part of the Team Build sponsorship program which combines financial support and volunteer service so we can continue providing housing solutions to neighbors in our communities in 2024. Our partnership with IDT spans nearly two decades! Thank you, IDT, for your continued support of the Habitat mission!

We need your help! We are continuing to partner with the City of Iowa City Public Works Department to repurpose thousands of bricks that were once located in Iowa City's downtown pedestrian mall. Volunteers are needed to help sort, stack, and palletize bricks so they can be transported for sale at Iowa City ReStore. Sales from these historic bricks directly support IVHFH’s local affordable housing programs! Iowa City staff will host these volunteer opportunities which will start in May, so keep an eye on the volunteer calendar.
